I recently took off the rear right side wheel on my JD950 to sandblast and repaint the rim (with the tire on). Air filled new tire. When I took off the left side, I quickly noticed that it was liquid filled. As I stabilized the tire with my body (like trying to tackle a Dallas Cowboy lineman) and my heart started again,(I laugh about it now but it was not funny when it happened) I wondered if I should get the right side filled or if it was ok to have only one side filled. I do not currently have a front end loader but will get one in the future. I think when the previous owner purchased the tire he didn't know the other was filled. The dealer that he used should have told him, OR does it matter??? I know this might be in the "stupid question" arena, but should I fill the right side tire with liquid. Not sure if it is water and antifreeze or calc cl but it was sure was heavy. Thanks for any help.

Dear Markus, I just ordered a BEFCO 60 inch Fail Mower at $2,010.00 (Connecticut). The Landpride was a little out of my price range. The BEFCO 72 inch was $2,260.00. What are your needs??? I was suprised at how well the BEFCO was built. I did not hesitate to order it. Good luck

Hello,

I need to buy a Rotary Mower and I am going crazy because I am overanalyzing. I looked at Woods but with a chain guard is out of my price range. I looked at the JD613 and the metal appears to be very thin and they are high priced as compared to Howse. There are people on this site in previous posts that have stated that the metal is so thin that rocks and branches have dented the sides of the deck. I looked at King Kutter and they seem better built than the JD but no chain guard and how are the gear boxes? Bush Hog looks like the best for me,less than the Woods, more than the KK,JD and Howse. I am considering reliability, the gear box, the weight, the cut and dealer service. The Woods is from a dealer that doesn't have the best service reputation. My JD Dealership say that the JD would be great since it is light duty and I don't need a heavy duty cutter. There are no HOWSE dealers near me so I can't compare them to what I have seen. King Kutter dealer says he sells "tons" of them with no problems. I have been looking for quite some time and I have can't make up my mind. I go to a Woods dealer and they say that Woods is the best and Bush Hog has problems. I go to a Bush Hog Dealer and they say that Woods has problems. Who can I believe? I have a field with heavy clover, no saplings larger than 1". Does the round shape of the deck (Bush Hog and Woods)really make a difference as compared to the more square deck on the JD or KK or Howse? Do I just put all of the names on a dart board and close my eyes and whichever name the dart lands on is the one I buy? I have a JD 950.
I would really appreciate any and all opinions on this. I have to buy, SOON!!!!

MY JD DEALER TOLD ME THAT JD CONTRACTED WITH WOODS TO MAKE A LINE OF ATTACHMENTS THAT JOHN DEERE WILL CALL "FRONTIER". HE TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL BE AT THE DEALERS IN MARCH AND THAT THEY WILL BE COMPETITIVELY PRICED. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE SEEN ANY INFORMATION ON THESE NEW ATTACHMENTS? I WENT TO THE JD WEB SITE AND ONLY FOUND AN ANNOUNCEMENT BUT NO OTHER INFORMATION.

Thank you for the information Bill. Does anyone have any suggestions about which brands of Rotory Mower to stay away from? Howse seem to be very inexpensive but I have read alot about welding seem problems. Which brand would you suggest?

HELLO, I AM LOOKING TO PURCHASE A ROTORY MOWER. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A 6FT MODEL SINCE I HAVE SO MUCH FIELD TO CUT AND WOULD LIKE TO CUT IT FASTER THAN A SMALLER MODEL WOULD. I AM WONDERING ABOUT SIZE. IS 6FT VERY DIFFICULT TO MANUEVER? WILL THE MOWER "SWING" TOO MUCH WHEN I TURN? I DON'T HAVE ALOT OF CLOSE TREES, ETC. I HAVE MOSTLY OPEN FIELD. I NOTICE THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE 5FT MODELS. I HAVE THE TRACTOR POWER WITH A JD950. DOES A 5FT MODEL CUT BETTER THAN A 6FT MODEL?

CONSIDERING PURCHASING A JD950. NO LOADER. WHAT IS AVAILABLITY OF LOADER FOR THIS TRACTOR? IF NOT FROM JD, THEN ANYTHING AFTERMARKET? WHAT ABOUT HYDROLIC SET UP FOR LOADER (SCV)? WOULD APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK.

I AM LOOKING AT USED TRACTORS. THERE ARE MANY AVAILABLE AT LOCAL DEALERS AND IN LOCAL WANT ADS. MY QUESTION IS "HOW MANY HOURS IS TOO MANY HOURS?" WHAT IS THE HIGH END OF HOURS THAT ONE SHOULD CONSIDER WHEN PURCHASING A USED TRACTOR AND WHAT IS THE HIGH END OF HOURS THAT ONE SHOULD SAY FORGET IT?. IS THERE A STANDARD? 100-200 PER YEAR? I REALIZE THAT THE PREVIOUS USER AND USE OF THE TRACTOR HAS ALOT TO DO WITH IT. IF SOMEONE USED IT FOR HOME USE OR FARM USE VERSUS A CONTRACTOR USING IT FOR CONSTRUCTION WORK (WHERE IT IS DRIVEN BY MANY DIFFERENT OPERATORS) MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE. I NEED HELP WITH THIS. I HAVE LOOKED AT TRACTORS (IH, JD, FORD) THAT ARE IN GREAT SHAPE BUT HAVE ANYWHERE FROM 1500 TO 3500 TO 5000 HOURS ON THEM(DIESELS). SHOULD THESE TRACTOR BE CONSIDERED? OR AM I LOOKING AT SHELLING OUT ADDITIONAL MONEY FOR REPAIRS THAT WOULD COME WITH TIME AND USE? SOME OF THESE TRACTORS ARE NOT MORE THAN 10-12 YEARS OLD. 3500/10 YEARS EQUALS 350 HOURS AVERAGE PER YEAR. I HAVE LOOKED AT NEW COMPACTS AT A PRICE OF 14,000-18,000. MY USE WOULD PROBABLY BE 35-45 HOURS PER YEAR. (FIELD MOWING, LIGHT LOADER WORK, ROTO-TILLING) IS IT WORTH THE SHELL OUT OF MONEY IF I BUY SOMETHING WITH 3500 HOURS ON IT, THAT IS EQUIVELENT TO 100 OR SO YEARS OF MY USE. A LOCAL FARMER TOLD ME NEVER TO BUY USED BECAUSE YOU ARE BUYING SOMEONE ELSES PROBLEMS AND CAN END UP PUTTING WHAT YOU ORIGINALLY SAVED BACK INTO REPAIRS. HAS ANYONE HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THE MAHINDRA TRACTORS. THERE IS A DEALER IN VERMONT THAT IS PUSHING THAT. 2 WHEEL DRIVE VERSIONS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE OLD INTERNATIONAL 454 DESIGN. 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRACTORS ARE MADE IN KOREA BUT NOT BY MAHINDRA. I WENT ON THE MAHINDRA WEB SITE AND THEY STATE THAT THEY ARE ONE OF THE LARGEST TRACTOR MANUFACTURERS IN THE WORLD. MANY WEB SITES FROM DEALERS IN U.S. SHOWING DEALS ON THESE TRACTORS. THEY SEEM TO HAVE ALOT TO OFFER? ANYBODY FAMILIAR WITH THEM? WORTH THE LOOK OR STAY AWAY?

I am sorry that I did not supply more info. The tires look like R1's, It is a regular shift, four wheel drive. I hope that this info helps you out. I do not remember the loader number.

Thank you John for the web site and the picture link. The picture link shows a reversed picture but you can really see how roomy the TC30 is. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the steering wheel. I was thin so that it didn't feel right. It felt cheap but I noticed other New Hollands with the same type. It appears that New Holland did a great job with this one. I prefer this look versus the "Ford Taurus" like look of the Boomers that are currently available. What do users feel about the gear shift lever on the left hand side? I do not want HST. I am right handed. Sounds stupid, but does it really make a difference?

Sorry. I feel like an idiot!!! I didn't see the 990 in your original posting. I read it to be 790. I think that maybe I need new glasses!!!! That sounds like a great price for a 990. The Woods mower is a finishing mower. I looked at different brands and the Woods seem to have the thickest metal and best weld seems. I know someone who has a Woods mower and they said that I will not need to buy another one ever again. I hope so for the amount of money it will cost me. What are you cutting with your 613? My field is mainly heavy clover and hay type material. A little brush on the side. I'm concerned with the cut. It was suggested that I go with a finishing but I'm not sure if that is the best way to go. I'd really appreciate your advice and input. The John Deere dealer told me that John Deere will be buying Woods finishing mowers and painting them green in order to have a rear discharge finishing mower. The 790 with 70 FEL was quoted to me for $14,900.00.

It may be to your advantage to shop around a bit more. I was originally looking at a KIOTI because Deere and New Holland were too expensive. I couldn't even consider Kubota. I began to look on the internet for pricing and a dealer in Kentucky had great prices on KIOTI. When I went to a local dealer (well known), I was suprised at the pricing. A KIOTI 2554 w/loader was 13,700. I began to look at John Deere beecause someone told me about the 790's. A brand new 790 w/loader was 14,097. Thats 30hp vs the KIOTI's 25hp for only 400 odd dollars. I couldn't get the dealer to consider the prices that I got off the internet so I bought the Deere. I understand that KIOTI is a good tractor. I understand that they "borrowed" the design and engineering from Kubota. I couldn't see buying the KIOTI with the reliability level of the Deere. John Deere dealers are very busy pushing the 4000 series, so when I first went to John Deere, this particular dealer didn't even show me a 790. I went to another dealer. New Holland was still high. I love the 790. I runs and works great and you can steer the thing with 1 finger. It also has a great turn radius. Take a little more time and shop. It may be worth it for you. Good luck!!!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE REPLIED. I THINK I WILL BE GOING WITH THE WOODS RD7200 FINISHING MOWER. SOME OF THESE ATTACHMENTS ARE JUST SO COSTLY THAT I NEED EXPERT ADVICE FROM USERS AS TO WHAT REALLY WORKS. THANKS AGAIN.
